Kate Engler Counseling seeks to add a talented and motivated Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) to our team as an employee (W2 position) to keep up with the demands of referrals. This is a great opportunity for a clinically-focused, driven and team-oriented therapist who wants to focus on relationship therapy. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to expand their knowledge and clinical skills related to relationship therapy and will be able to integrate their understanding of research, theory, and socio-cultural factors into their work with clients.

Employment status: W-2 Employee, Full OR Part Time

Location: Skokie, IL (very accessible to both northern suburbs and Chicago)

Candidate requirements:

  • Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent

  • Active AMFT, LMFT, or equivalent license

  • Strong interest in couples/relationship therapy

  • Previous training and/or clinical experience working with couples/relationships is a plus (willing to train the right person if committed to focusing clinical work on relationships)

  • Participation in weekly group supervision/consultation

  • Ability to work independently

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Open to learning, self-motivated, and eager to grow as a person/therapist

  • Understanding of a variety of therapeutic research-based modalities and the impact of socio-cultural factors on client’s lives and well-being

  • LGBTQIA affirming and demonstrated valuing of race, culture, and gender as critical parts of identity

 

Responsibilities:

 

The therapist will provide assessment and treatment of individual, relational and systematic issues. Clinician must be comfortable working with a variety of relational dynamics including monogamy, LGBTQ+ couples, open and or polyamorous couples, culturally diverse couples, blended families, foster families, etc. The clinician should be competent in the treatment of family patterns and family of origin concerns.
